Exhibition in the Netherlands

Our felted KATSU stones at the Building the Visual Mind exhibition at the Het Nieuwe Institut Museum in the Netherlands.

🔸Het Nieuwe Instituut is the Netherlands’ national museum for architecture, design and digital culture. Located in the city of architecture, Rotterdam, in the Museum Park, Het Nieuwe Instituut has various exhibition spaces, a museum shop, a café and a house museum. Het Nieuwe Instituut focuses on important social developments, such as the housing shortage, the energy transition, the rise of artificial intelligence, mobility, and the use of public space.

🔸About the exhibition
In the exhibition Building the Visual Mind, artist, designer and filmmaker Donna Verheijden tells new stories using old materials from Het Nieuwe Instituut’s digital archive.

Creating a virtual parallel reality, Verheijden takes visitors through the evolution of the digital collection. The 3D models and digitised glass negatives, sketches, blueprints and collection images she uses in the exhibition are a concrete representation of the relationship between archives, architecture and developing technology.

Until the very last moment, we were in the dark about what this project would be like. Donna just contacted us and requested our stones for her show without going into too much detail. Real artists always know what they need.
And it was the right choice. The stones set the natural accents perfectly.
